Purpose: This study was done to show the influential changes on oriented insight of alcohol dependent patients. In addition, the study was aimed at providing effective plans of nurse-arbitration.
Methods: Data was collected from patients who were diagnosed with alcohol dependence. Subjects were divided into two groups. Nineteen in the experimental group and 13 in the control group. A nonequivalent non-synchronized control group was used for the study. Researchers planned and created a 3 week short-term arbitration treatment program. HAIS(Hanil Alcohol Insight Scale) was used for the measurement of the experimental group.
Results: The experimental group in the treatment program showed more of an increase of POI (problem-oriented insight), H/TOI(hospitalization/treatment oriented insight), AOI(abstinence-oriented insight), and total oriented insight than the control group that was not in the treatment program. The experimental group did not show an increase of C/DOI(control/dependence-oriented insight), or SOI (surrounding-oriented insight).
Conclusion: The insight-oriented intervention program was proven effective through the increase of HAIS total oriented insight indicating the effectiveness of the insight-oriented intervention program to improve the oriented insight.
